History of GfG

Founded in 1961, GfG began working on a methane gas tester to be used in coal mines. Its K95 methane tester was the first electronic gas detection used in that industry. By 1964, the company was producing more models of gas detectors for the mining industry. Two years later, these detectors were being shipped all over the world. In 1978, South Africa offered expansion opportunity for GfG. From here, the company began to see growth opportunities all over the world. The company began inventing new instruments and adjusting existing instruments to meet the specific needs of their new markets. In 2001, the American subsidiary was renamed GfG Instrumentation, Inc. Today, GfG has a large and versatile network serving a multitude of markets and providing a variety of safety solutions designed to meet the needs of their locality.
